Updated: May 12, 2021

Talentos take part of this important event with an incredible energy from them dancers. Here performing at the IMO, for the World Maritime Day 2019. This dance is called Currulao, a musical genre and folkloric dance from the Pacific region of our country, Colombia. This dance is oriented towards courtship, influenced by our African descendants and their rhythms.

Our folklore inspires, delights and links our people with the enormous expression of traditional dances. That folklore that merges to tell our life story, of diaspora since ancient times. Dancing is living, it is telling our customs and showing our autochory to the world. Talent moves you! Colombia was the epicentre of the main meeting of the international maritime community. It was an opportunity to get to know the Colombian maritime country: biodiverse, agricultural and cultural with its open ports. The theme of World Maritime Day 2019 was "Empowering women in the maritime community", which served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
